Our Story

OnRamp To Independence was born from lived experience and a belief that every young person deserves a structured path to adulthood.

How We Started

A Problem Too Personal to Ignore

Every year, thousands of foster and adoptive teens age out of the system without the life skills and mentorship they need to thrive independently. Most leave without a stable home, a financial safety net, or anyone who's taken the time to teach them how adulthood actually works. Within two years, 1 in 5 will experience homelessness.

OnRamp To Independence exists because of a simple observation. Our founder, Jeremy Seipel, watched it happen firsthand. Not as a statistic in a report, but as a daily reality in the lives of young people he's adopted and fostered. He saw the gap. Saw how foster parents, despite their best efforts, are often stretched too thin to provide everything a teen needs to be ready. And saw what's possible when someone steps in with a plan, real mentorship, and practical tools.

That's what OnRamp does. We pair strategic life planning with real mentorship and tools. We teach the skills that successful adults take for granted. And we do it with people who actually understand the foster care system, not from a distance, but from living it.

Mission

Why We Exist

To give foster youth and aging-out young adults the life skills, experiential training, and mentorship they need during their most critical, formative years to break cycles, face adversity, and confidently step behind the wheel of their own independent futures.

Servant Leadership

We lead by putting others first. Every program is built around the needs of the youth we serve, not organizational convenience.

Authentic Mentorship

Our founder is an adoptive and foster parent. We don't just study the problem. We live it, giving us genuine credibility with the youth we serve.

Structured Planning

We apply executive-level strategic thinking to youth development, giving teens the same rigorous life planning that successful leaders use.

Equipping With Tools

We meet youth where they are and help them gain practical experience. This includes providing access to tools, resources, and real-world opportunities they might not otherwise have.
